"How Well Do You Know the Standard"
Take an
interactive test to see how well you know the
standard. Discussion during the seminar,
a panel discussion with several breeders on
Standard DQ's and major faults, with a question
and answer period. Any questions,

the CBR Standard

Disqualifications:
A. Dyane Baldwin- overview of
DQ 's-- what they are and why do we have them
(historically where do they come from?)
Difference between DQ and Faults, and she will
Explain the DQ for lacking in breed
characteristics
B. Meghan Timmerman- color DQ
's (2), solid vs self-colored
C. Jane Pappler- Length of coat DQ
's (2), long coat and recent genetic testing
info
D. Emelise Baughman / Mchelle Keehn
- Bite- over and under, dewclaws (difference
between having the rear dew and the removal)
E. Nat Horn - what happens if a
dog is DQ 'd. Difference in DQ 's- standard,
temperament, difference between one time and
three times, etc.

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever will be
presented by Dyane Baldwin & Patty Martin. It
will be 90 minutes long and includes a hands on.
Cost is $25 which includes a show catalog.
Space is limited to 20 enrollees.

For ACC members - there will be an opportunity
to audit the Judges seminar. Attendance is
limited to 5 participants. There is No Fee and
it is on a first come/first served basis. No
hand outs or hands on participation, just
observation. To enroll contact Dyane Baldwin

in the event all 20 spots in the judges section
do not fill.
ACC members, who need to attend a seminar
for future AKC Judging status, must enroll in
the full Judges Seminar.

The 2014 ACC National Specialty and Health
Committee invite you to an informative health
seminar given by Dr. Chris Zink. Thanks to
sponsorship by the ACC Charitable Trust this
seminar will be FREE to all ACC members wishing
to attend. There will be a nominal fee of $10
for attendance by non-ACC members that will be
donated to the Health Trust. The seminar is
scheduled for Thursday evening, September 18th,
from 7pm – 9pm (immediately following the
Welcome Party/ACC General Meeting). In
addition, Chris will host a demonstration on
Friday, following Sweepstakes Judging, on how to
train dogs to gait on command and to optimize
their movement for conformation competition.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR:
Chris will present her seminar called,
"The Chesapeake Bay Retriever —Conformation and
Beyond", in which she provides
information on how the canine body works, but
from a different point of view. She will look
at the Chesapeake Bay Retriever breed standard
and examine the dog’s original and current
working abilities in a variety of events,
including conformation, field work, obedience,
tracking, agility, and others. She also
will discuss recent research about how to
improve performance and keep our dogs healthy
and injury-free. Chris is an informative and
high-energy speaker, who gives lots of
opportunity for discussion and to answer
questions from the audience. She has presented
her Conformation and Beyond seminars at a number
of breed specialties to rave reviews.
About Chris:
Chris Zink, DVM PhD DACVP DACVSMR
Chris is a consultant on canine sports
medicine who designs individualized
rehabilitation and conditioning programs for
canine athletes. She
is the award-winning author of four books and a
DVD on the canine athlete, and co-edited the
first-ever textbook on canine sports medicine
and rehabilitation. Her publications have
received numerous national and international
awards and accolades. She was voted Outstanding
Woman Veterinarian of the Year in 2009.
Having obtained over
80 titles in agility, obedience, conformation,
tracking, hunt tests, and rally on dogs from the
sporting, hound, working, terrier, and herding
groups; she fully understands the kinds of
training required to keep athletes in top form
or get them back to full performance.
Dr. Zink was instrumental in establishing the
American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine
and Rehabilitation and is a member of the
Credentialing and
Residency Committee. She presents seminars
worldwide to audiences ranging from
veterinarians,
physical therapists, and veterinary technicians
to breeders and competitors. In her
other life, Chris is a veterinary pathologist
and a Professor and Department Director at Johns
Hopkins University School of Medicine, with over
120 scientific publications. There, she teaches
Pathology to medical and veterinary students and
does AIDS research.
